This is my first comic rant and if you cannot already tell it is about old comics.
To begin this rant I need to say that I read the Saint Louis Post Dispatch and that is the publication that I will be focusing on the most since that is what I read. I do not know if this problem is widespread to other publications or not , but if I had to guess I would say it probably is.
So the thing that has really made me mad in the comics section recently has been old comics strips. The best example of this is For Better or For Worse which hasn't been making new strips for at least a couple of years, yet it still has a strip in the daily paper.
I just feel that it's not right that For Better or For Worse gets to stay in the paper while strips like Curtis, My Cage, and Hagar the Horrible all get thrown out while they are still making new strips. It just boggles my mind that people would rather have a repeat of a FBoFW instead of a new strip.
In defense of the Post Dispatch fan voting does decide which strips get thrown out. So the Post picks like five strips that might be thrown out and the people choose from the five. I still just can't understand why people don't want new strips.
With strips like Curtis and My Cage removed from the Post I had to find a new place to read them. This place was the Houston Chronicle or Chron which had all of the comics I was missing.
My next problem has to do with comics that are still making new strips like Get Fuzzy but on occasion repeat story lines. This really annoys me because they could be doing a funny story line and then all of a sudden it gets interrupted with a repeat. This week was a great example of this happening because they ended one week with the missing door (which is a very funny storyline) and switched it to the monkey battery story line which is a repeat, just to go back to the missing door story this week. Don't get me wrong I think that Get Fuzzy is a very funny strip but I just get tired of seeing repeats all the time.
Also today I just found out some sad comic news and that is that the strip My Cage is over. It has apparantly been ended for some time, but I just found out today so here is the last strip. I am showing this as a link, because I do not know how to bring the strip to the blog, so I am bringing the blog to the strip
